Established in 1946, The College of Graduates Studies and Research at The University of Saskatchewan (U of S) supports over 2,500 graduate students who pursue studies in over 100 disciplines offered by the Colleges of Agriculture and Bioresources, Arts and Science, Business, Dentistry, Education, Engineering, Kinesiology, Law, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Nutrition, and Veterinary Medicine. Faculty research is supported by over $170 million in research grants annually that provide abundant opportunities for graduate teaching and research assistantships. Unique among Canadian research intensive universities, the university is strongly positioned in the fields of graduate research in human, animal and plant sciences.

Located across from the city center of Saskatoon next to the South Saskatchewan River, the U of S campus is situated on 1,865 acres with about 40 per cent used for the core campus and 60 per cent for agricultural teaching and research. The U of S agriculture college still has access to neighboring urban research lands. The total replacement cost of the university's physical assets, including buildings and infrastructure, is estimated at $5 billion.
